The days get shorter, the air gets colder, and starts smelling like burned wood and savory foods. Even though I’d rather describe myself as a summer person, I think fall has plenty of exceptional things to offer. Sometimes we are just too distracted by the dropping temperature, and the amount of rain falling down from the sky to see its real beauty. Here are a few things you should definitely add to your fall bucket list, to make this wonderful season a memorable one.
+ Time to chill
Summer is the busy season of the year with its long hot days. I am literally addicted to the sun, so whenever the sun is out, I’m out – always busy planning outdoor activities. I just can’t wrap my head around staying in when the weather is good. I’d feel like I’m missing out on something, but this can also be very exhausting. Therefore, when the days are starting to get shorter, the temperatures drop, and we’re more likely to have a sequence of rainy days, I don’t mind putting on my sweatpants and just spending the day on the couch with my family. I use fall as a time to recharge my batteries and just chill.
+ Visit a local pumpkin patch
One of my favorite fall bucket list activities (on a good weather fall day), is visiting a local pumpkin patch. It’s a nice way to get out into nature, breathe in some fresh air, and pick your dinner, or Halloween pumpkin. That’s also a perfect spot to take some cool shots to put into the family photo album.
+ Take in the colorful fall foliage
Summer and spring are pretty green, the winter is rather grey and black, but fall….fall has a magnificent color scheme with its red, yellow, green, brown, purple and orange leafed trees. Fall colors are so vivid, bright and pleasing, that a walk in the park or drive in the countryside will definitely have an uplifting effect on your mood.
+ Refreshing morning runs
The cool crisp air in the morning is something you should not miss out on. Part of my morning routine is going for a quick run right after I wake up. It’s my way of getting my day started and in my opinion, way more effective than a cup of coffee. There’s something special about the fall morning runs. That colder, but really fresh, and crisp air feels extra good and can help you clear your mind, refresh your soul and boost your productivity. In addition to that, your morning workouts aren’t sweaty anymore. If you’re interested in the benefits of adding a quick run into your daily routine you can read this post.
+ Pumpkin carving
Another must on my fall bucket list is the annual pumpkin carving. I admit, it is a little bit of work and it can get quite messy, but it’s also a lot of fun and the kids LOVE it. I usually roast the seeds, so we can all snack in something while figuring out some scary pumpkin faces. The highlight, of course, is always lighting up the pumpkins after it gets dark outside. Here are some inspirations if you want to impress your neighbors.
+ Treat yourself to a new and cozy fall sweater
Like I said before, it’s chill season, and how could you chill better than in a new and cozy sweater? Picking it is a pretty nice activity itself. Dress up, enjoy the cold air, and stroll around the shops in your city. Maybe get a warm pumpkin spice latte while doing it.
+ Have a Halloween party
I love throwing parties. Preparing invitations, planning the food, decoration, and outfits is so much fun, and it can keep you busy on rather boring rainy days. Especially on Halloween you can let your creativity flow and create something extra amazing.
+ Get yourself a new book to enjoy this season
There’s nothing better than diving into a new book while tucked into a blanket on your couch on a crispy fall evening. You can probably hear the wind blowing outside, and the leaves rustling. Light up a scented candle and enjoy the warmth of your home. Reading belongs to one of my favorite night-time routines because it helps me put the events of the day aside, and relaxes my mind and body.
